Lowell Lawson Award

In January 1995, the first meeting of the Cherokee Senior Softball Association, Inc. (CSSA) was held at CRPA in Woodstock, Georgia. It was here that Lowell F. Lawson shared his dream and vision of creating the first senior softball organization in Cherokee County.

On Thursday, March 16, 1995, that vision came to life with the first organized practice, attended by eight participants. For Lowell, seeing his dream begin was deeply gratifying.

The Lowell Lawson Award reflects his belief that while many enjoy participating, only a few are willing to step into leadership—planning, implementing, and sustaining the organization.

This award honors those individuals who go above and beyond to ensure CSSA thrives. Recipients are recognized for making a significant and lasting impact, whether on the field or behind the scenes. Through their dedication and hard work, they earn the respect and admiration of their peers, even though their contributions often remain unseen.

Because these accomplishments are not always visible to all, voting for this award is limited to Board Members and Team Managers. Each nomination must be accompanied by a detailed written justification.

For these reasons, the Lowell Lawson Award stands as the highest honor within CSSA.
